Under general supervision, a Messenger/Mailroom Clerk delivers and picks up documents and other items to and from business and residential locations as directed. Sorts and distributes incoming mail; collects, inspects, weighs and stamps outgoing mail. Utilizes copier equipment to fill requests in the copy area. Represents the Bank with professionalism and performs duties with a high level of customer service.
Delivers and picks up documents, mail, messages, packages and other items as directed to and/or from business establishments and/or private homes ensuring confidentially and discretion. Prepares and examines outgoing mail for appearance, weighs and affixes postage using postage meter and seals outgoing mail. Scans bar codes on packages for tracking. Sorts mail according to destination. Picks up and drops off mail at local post office, as necessary. Processess airfright and overnight deliveries; tracks shipments as necessary. Prepares ineroffice mail for delivery to off-site locations. Preforms light maintenance work (e.g. moving furniture, delivering office supplies, etc). Replaces shred bins when required. Collects, sorts, and delivers outgoing and interoffice mail from each department. Folds letters or circulars and inserts in envelopes by hand or with a machine. Operates copier equipment to fill the requests of the copy area. Ensures the proper delivery of printed matierals. Resolves routine questions and problems, referring more complex to more senior levels. Keeps informed of postal regulations as they affect the Bank's mailings and postage equipment. Delivers accurate, responsive and courteous customer service to every customer (internal & external) every time. Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required. Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Copier, mail meter and mail insertion equipment experience desirable, basic knowledge of office equipment helpful.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of the geographic area and a good sense of direction. Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds unassisted or assisting others (with or without) using mechanical equipment. Valid driver's license and clean driving record required. Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures. Strong organizational skills. Good mechanical skills. Good customer service skills. Ability to perform job function in all weather conditions. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Ability to follow directions and handle repetitive tasks. Ability to successfully complete multiple tasks. Ability to perform job functions with a professional behavior and appearance.
