An Exception Processor processes ACH and IEH exception items. Performs research and/or corrections for items that reject normal account posting, as necessary. Responds to inquiries via email or phone from branches and other bank back office staff regarding ACH and Inclearing items.
To research and process ACH Exceptions and IEH (Inclearing) Exceptions: for Debits and Credits, Checking and Savings accounts that reject normal posting; due to Invalid account numbers, Stop payments, Insufficient and Uncollected funds, Supervisor holds, and Closed accounts. Run daily reports for ACH and Inclearing Exceptions. Post transactions on the Miser system (data entry). Performs daily proof sheets for ACH and Inclearing Exceptions. Process ACH return items in our ACH Warehouse system. Process Check returns (for various reasons). Handles trace requests from Government agencies and other Financial Institutions ACH departments. Handles Death Notifications. Log on to the ACH Hotline to assist the Branches and Back office departments with inquiries regarding ACH and Check transactions (mandatory). Learn basic knowledge of our ACHPlus system for inquires, returns and reports regarding ACH items. Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required. Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Teller/ Banking operations experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
General knowledge of REG E and ACH NACHA rules. Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to handle high volume work periods. Accurate with time management skills. Computer literate with basic proficiency in internet navigation, word processing and spreadsheet applications. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must provide excellent customer service. Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize work assignments and meet deadlines.
