JOB SUMMARY

An Application Engineer, Sr works under limited supervision to ensure the availability, reliability, performance and maintenance of websites, servers, services and infrastructure related to public and private enterprise applications.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Integrally involved in the development and support of all Internet/Intranet/Extranet sites and supporting systems.

Works closely with other IT groups to meet customer objectives.

Participates in phases of configuration and implementation process across various applications.

Manage Web server integration with supporting systems.

Responsible for system tuning, optimization of information/data processing, maintenance and support of the production environment.

Perform application related vulnerability research and remediation.

Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, highly technical environment.

Develops integrated solutions to resolve highly complex technical and business issues.

Recognized expert internally and externally within a discipline(s) and often provides strategic direction, guidance and integration of products and services.

May lead projects and provide guidance/training to more junior staff.

Provides high level written communications and create/maintain knowledge documentation related to job function and applications.

Provides root cause analysis to IT management for high profile outages to critical applications.

Perform as lead engineer and coordinate, consolidate and report input and ideas from other project team members.

Expected to participate in 24/7 on call rotation in support of maintenance and issue resolution of the production environment.

Troubleshoots and supports multi-tiered applications.

Ensure system health and stability.

  • Performs special projects and additional duties and responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or equivalent.

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer preferred.

  • Minimum five years’ experience as an Internet Engineer or Software Systems Engineer.  

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Back Office products.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft IIS, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SSL, Web Services and Information Security.

  • Strong knowledge of scripting in batch and Powershell.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL.

  • Computer literate with a proficiency in Microsoft office products and Desktop Windows Operating Systems.

  • Strong math skills.

  • Knowledge of banking operations and structure preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, good negotiation skills.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Exercises sound judgment. 

  • Ability to train, delegate and review the work of lower level employees. 

  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments for a work group.

  • Ability to maintain a professional composure with customers in difficult situations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to customer information and employee records.
