JOB SUMMARY

Assists the Loan Servicing Manager in the daily operation of the Loan Servicing Department, including staff supervision and customer service. Monitors loan balancing and system maintenance.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides assistance to the Commercial Loan Servicing staff, Bank staff and customers in loan problem resolution.
Supervises the proof and reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to the commercial loan portfolio.
Reviews and authorizes payoff statements and discharge documents prepared by the Commercial Loan Servicing Department.
Prepares and/or reviews special reports for distribution to management.

 

Reviews daily servicing system reports of loan account maintenance to ensure compliance with Bank policy and loan documentation.
Reviews new loan/renewal transactions performed by junior staff members.
Administers system rate indices which control loan interest accrual changes.
Authorizes general ledger transactions and bank checks prepared by Commercial Loan Servicing staff.
Supervises and reviews relevant core system file maintenance from new loan upload and modifications of commercial loans to ensure all data entered for the portfolio  is in accordance with terms stipulated per loan documents, as well as in compliance with departmental polices.
Works with loan origination officers in clarifying terms, exceptions, waivers or adjustments they have authorized.
Reviews document requests from internal / external auditors and prepares relevant source documents for submission.
Tracks and reviews incoming payoff / refinance requests and oversees their preparation by junior staff members for timely response and accuracy.
Assists in reviewing critical file maintenance changes to ensure all critical data has been identified and sufficient supporting documentation has been collected.
Reviews, analyzes and communicates loan billing discrepancies to provide resolution, as well as performs all relevant adjustments accordingly.
Assists in training new and junior staff members on the responsibilities of the department.

 

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required. Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years of customer service experience in commercial loan servicing.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent knowledge and understanding of core systems and loan servicing functions.

General industry knowledge of commercial and/or multi-family lending.

Strong mathematical skills.

Strong customer service and communications skills.

Computer literate with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to train junior level staff.

Ability to work independently and perform required daily tasks with minimal supervision.
