Manages the Asset Management NY team which is responsible for monitoring assigned loans; performing loans in which the bank has sold or purchased a participation loan; loans which have been restructured, note sales financed by NYCB, Troubled Debt Restructured and Non-Troubled Debt Restructured loans; borrower requests for SNDAs, collateral releases, transfer of equity or other special post-closing requests; release of guarantees, reviews of master leases and other forms of credit support and other matters requiring special attention as directed by the Director of Asset Management or the Chief Credit Officer. The team leader will also oversee the Multifamily Housing Data Initiative, which seeks the remediation of *at risk* properties identified by the HPD.
Manage a staff of asset managers and oversee a portfolio of: Performing loans in which the bank has sold or purchased a participation, Loans which have been restructured for compliance, Note sales financed by NYCB, Troubled Debt Restructured and Non-Troubled Debt Restructured loans, Borrower requests for SNDAs, collateral releases, transfer of equity or other special post-closing requests, Release of guarantees, review of master leases and other forms of credit support, Oversee the Multifamily Housing Data Initiative, which seeks the remediation of *at risk* properties identified by the HPD, and Other matters requiring special attention as directed by the Director of Asset Management or the Chief Credit Officer. Perform risk rating on loans. Update Policy and Procedures manual as warranted. Ensure properties are inspected and site visits conducted when necessary, taxes are paid, insurance is in force. Ensure Asset Managers are monitoring transactions closely and are accurately boarded on the servicing system. Interface with Servicing on issues such as the application of payment, escrow deficiencies, insurance lapses, property releases, loan payoffs, loan satisfactions, etc. Review credit memos prepared by Asset Managers for accuracy before being forwarded to senior/executive management and mortgage committee for consideration. Actively monitor the financial performance of all loans within the Asset Management portfolio. Work with the Asset Managers and attorneys throughout the legal process and provide direction as required. Review original underwriting and appraisals vs. current performance and current appraisals. Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required. Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting. Master's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred. Ten years' experience in loan asset management including loan workouts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of real estate. Familiarity with loan and legal documents and terminology, third party reports including appraisals, environmental reports, property condition reports. Strong financial analysis and risk assessment skills. Strong negotiations skills. Solid written and verbal communication skills. PC proficient, particularly MS Word and Excel. Ability to travel to inspect collateral property and meet with attorneys and borrowers.
